🌊 MWG TAKE
Gamescom 2026 was a letdown, but three games saved the show.
Overall Gamescom 2026 was a letdown, but we came away genuinely hyped to see more of Control: Resonant, Metro 2039 Renegade, and Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons. Those three carried an otherwise quiet Opening Night Live.

⭐ REVIEW OF THE WEEK

The Sinking City 2
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆ · 8/10
A Resident Evil 2 Remake knockoff in the best way possible. Puzzle-driven investigation, tight pacing, and two lead performances that carry the whole thing. Late-game combat waves stop it from being a 9. Top 5 of 2026 so far.
🔎 DEEP DIVE

Why There Are Too Many Open World Games

🎮 WHAT WE’RE PLAYING
Mortal Shell II — Beta impressions still ringing. Sharper, meaner, worth the wait.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy — Focus & Asobo’s next chapter with Sophia. Our FAQ deep dive got us hyped.
Star Wars: Zero Company — XCOM-style Star Wars tactics. Cautiously optimistic.
